There is one thing that is always consistent with our job here at Stand Up Guys, we never know what were going to run into next. Some times we come across really nasty stuff, sometimes we come across really cool stuff, either way it is always interesting. This particular morning we pulled up to our first job and we could not believe the size of the house. The owner of the house where we were was actually the owner of Aarons, he was eighty three years old and had four houses, (all his) on his property. He told us that he started his business with a few hundred folding chairs in an old warehouse, this year alone his company is projected to pull in over 2 billion in revenue. I thought that was just so cool, every business has to start somewhere.
The house on his property that we were working on was an old wooden cabin that he had built for him and his buddies in 1940. Working at this cabin made us feel like we should be on the history channel because it was so old. We work in so many of the same houses and properties on a daily bases that it is really cool to get away from the cookie cutter house and see something so interesting. The cabin actually had a tree fall on it about fifteen years ago and made the roof cave in and the walls separated slightly. So they actually hooked a steel wire from one end of the cabins base to the other and tightened the wire until the house was straight again, thats something you do not see every day. So thats the reason here at Stand Up Guys we really enjoy our jobs, we never see the same thing twice and we never know what we will se next.

Yep, you guessed it I came across another article about GOING GREEN. Like I have said before I am always curious and always looking for more information on recycling and “Going Green”. Yes Stand-Up Guys are a junk removal company, but thats not all we are interested in. We recycle everything possible with all the junk that we remove. It would surprise you the amount of things that can actually be recycled and or donated. This article that i came across though is more about the things that all of us can do to help out. Things as simple as changing the type of light bulbs you use to taking showers instead of baths, there are so many ways to help the planet. I am very serious about going green, I will actually go as far to say anyone that mentions this blog, or says that they read the article can get 10% percent off of all there junk removal needs.
There are over twenty five recycling centers in the city of Atlanta alone, so there should never be an excuse to why you can not recycle, and the tips in the article are so simple that anyone can practice them. Junk Junk Junk
Today was a hot one, and the clean ups we had was all outside, but trust me that doesn’t bother Stand Up Guys. Even though this is the hottest summer that I can remember in quite a while, we have just been truckin’ along hot day after hot day.
Stand Up Guys got a new account with two different shopping centers this week. Both of the shopping centers are very old and are going into construction to completely revamp everything into nicer, newer and more modern day stores. The parking lots though have been badly abused by some people, the backs are all filled with tons of household junk and debris. Probably twenty mattresses, over four or five couches and it goes on like that. The particular junk pile in the picture was left in the back corner of an old comic book store. The junk looked like it had been sitting there for at least a year if not more, so it wasn’t too much fun cleaning it all up. We are always careful though, by wearing gloves and if need be mask to cover our mouth and noses, because you cant ever be to safe.
As quickly as we can though we are cleaning up this entire shopping center, we hope that it helps the new businesses moving in and most of all we really hope it helps clean this part of the community up. After all that is what it all comes down to, trust me we love getting the work to better ourselves and the company but what satisfies us most is the opportunity to help out our town. Its not every day that we have the chance to do that. Ya we help clean up homes and garages on a daily bases and help single homes and families, which is very nice, but getting to help the community as a whole is extremely gratifying.
