Daily Log – In Johns Creek With The Stand Up Guys Junk Removal Crew

Yesterday started just like any other day. Both crews were out and about, making Atlanta a better, cleaner place, one junk pile at a time. Then it happened…

Steve from Johns Creek, one of our oldest customers called into the office right around 11:45am. He was in a hurry too. Steve said that he was trying to sell his house for the last month, and since he knew it would take a while, he postponed cleaning out his back shed, and under his back porch. They were both FILLED with junk.

Well, Steve told us he couldn’t wait any longer, because the house sold faster than he had ever anticipated. He needed all that junk cleared out, and removed as quickly as possible. Well Steve made the right call, because that’s the Stand Up Guys specialty. We went right ahead and put Steve down to have a crew come out the very next day in order to get this junky debacle out of his hair.

This morning we deployed our top crew, Carson and Ross. They headed straight to Steve’s house in Johns Creek. Steve lives in a typical, spacious, luxurious Johns Creek home. So, we don’t mind going out there, mainly because we love the scenery of Johns Creek.

Just as expected, Steve’s back shed, and back porch were just filled junk. Carson and Ross took some time to assess the situation. There were tons of fencing, appliances, junk furniture, just a whole heap of junk out there. The two decided on what they would need to complete the job.

On any normal day, with a normal job, that wasn’t in a time constraint, Carson and Ross would have gotten straight to work and lugged all the junk to the truck themselves. But because Steve was in such a hurry, they pulled out the big guns.

Carson called back into the office, and told us that we needed to send out another crew, and another truck. This way we could be 100% sure that the job would be done in a timely fashion, and that Steve would be satisfied.

By the time the second crew had arrived at the home in Johns Creek, Carson and Ross already had their truck 85% full. The second crew quickly hopped on and helped them load the rest of the truck up together. Then, the four of them all loaded up the second truck with junk together as well. The second truck was loaded in no time at all, so I must say, “good call Carson”. The two crews were a great idea.

The two crews washed, rinsed, and repeated this same process 3 times today, and in the end they were able to finish it all up for good ole Steve. Steve was so relieved, and even a little surprised. He didn’t think in a million years that all that junk would disappear in one day like that, but he didn’t count on the Stand Up Guys being so outstandingly “Stand-Upish” either.

In the end it was a good day for us here at Stand Up Guys. We love you Johns Creek, and we will see you again soon.

Office Junk Removal In Atlanta

The Big Blue

For the last two days, the Stand Up Guys Junk Removal Crew have had their hands full. We have been clearing out all the old, leftover junk from an office complex in Atlanta. There was so much junk, that we couldn’t even get it all done in one day, and you all know how much the Stand Up Guys can get done in a day.

The company that was renting out the space in the office complex in Atlanta, had been there for well over 10 years. So as you can imagine, they had a TON of junk. The company was packing up and moving out because they were upgrading to a bigger complex near Marietta. They said they loved being in the city, but the cost of a complex as big as they needed was too much in the city. They are a fast growing business, so they need their space.

Well, basically when this company left, they didn’t want to take everything with them, and what they didn’t take, was a whole lotta junk. There were well over 25 rooms that they owned in this complex, and yes, every single room had at least a little bit of junk, and some of them had a lot. So we had our hands full.

Most of the junk was just your typical office stuff, like cubicles, printers, old computers, desks, and chairs, and what not. They were even getting rid of a lot of paintings, and we weren’t just going to trash those at all. No, we donated every single painting to the near by art center, and yes, they were ecstatic about it. We were even able to donate a lot of the chairs as well, because some of them were still in good condition.

After we were done donating everything we could from the office, we got down and dirty, and got to the real work, Junk’n. The office complex was on a busy street in downtown Atlanta, so we couldn’t just pull right up to the door. We had to bring the “big blue junk truck” into the loading area, in the parking garage. This alone was a hassle, because the truck is so big, it doesn’t fit into small places like parking garages very easily.

We were able to get the truck relatively close to the loading area, near the freight elevator. So all in all, we were ok. We brought with us some big, industrial sized four-wheel dollys. We loaded all the dolly’s up with as much junk as we could, and wheeled them all to the elevator at once. This way, we took the least amount of trips up and down the freight elevator as possible. There are a ton of people trying to use those things during the day, so it’s not fun to try to share an elevator with people, when you are filling the entire thing with junk.

Well, it only took two days of loading, breaking down, hauling, lugging, and going up and down the elevator, but we finished. Like always, we finished with happy customers as well. So all in all, this Atlanta office junk clean out went pretty darn well.

Alright, well today started out like any other day. We did a nice, simple little garage clean out in Marietta, in the a.m., and then we headed downtown to Atlanta, after we stopped off at the dump, for our second job. Little did we know, the day wasn’t going to be as normal as we had anticipated.

When we arrived at our second job in Atlanta, we knew going in it was a hot tub, but what we didn’t know is how much of a monster this hot tub was. The Stand Up Guys Crew deals with hot tubs on a regular basis, so this sure wasn’t our first rodeo, but this hot tub wasn’t going to go down with out a fight.

When Carson arrived at the job site, he went up and rang the door bell like always, and the customer kindly greeted him. They then walked around the side of the house to look at the hot tub, and that’s when Carson first laid eyes on the montrosity, that was their hot tub. He was so taken back, that he almost was speechless.

The customer went on to tell Carson that we were the third company they had called, because the other two just straight up told her they couldn’t, and wouldn’t do the job. So of course, with Carson never being able to back down from a challenge, told her “No problem, we’ll be done in an hour or so”.

So after such an outlandish statement, Carson now knew that he just put himself, and Clark (the other Stand Up Guy on site), in a predicatment. There was no turning back at this point, the massive hot tub, that they nick named “Pandoras Box“, had to go. No exceptions.

Well, the hot tub was inside the customers deck, so it wasn’t coming out in one piece, if they wanted to keep the deck that is, and yes, the customer wanted to keep the deck. Carson and Clark got out all the tools first, and drew up a game plan. First they took the demo saw, and cut out the entire rim around the top of the hot tub.

Next, after the rim was detached, they cut the bottom sector of the hot tub into 6 pieces. This way they could manage to pick them up, because if not, there was no lifting the hot tub. After that, they had to take out the ratchet set, and unbolt, and unscrew the entire top liner from the deck.

Well that is all just a vague summary. There was much more involved in the destruction and removal of “Pandoras Box,” but it would take a novel to explain it all.

Long story short, Carson and Clark (aka The Stand Up Guys) finished the job, just as Carson had promised, and they finished in pretty good time as well. The customers were so extactic, and happy for the hot tub to be gone, that they even cooked the two dinner.

After it was all said and done, Carson and Clark drove the big, bad Stand Up Guys Junk Truck off into the distance, with the hot tub in the back, and it was a happy, happy ending.

The phone rang extremely early yesterday morning, even earlier than normal. Who was it? Yep, you guessed it. It was our old friend Janie The Realtor. She had yet another problem in Vinings. 

Just Filthy

Janie The Realtor has been using Stand Up Guys for cleaning up the plethora of houses she owns for years. She likes to rent most of her properties, so when these people leave, we are usually her first call after she walks in and sees that yet again, the renters left junk behind.

This is not uncommon among renters in this area. For some reason, people have a serious problem with leaving the home that they have rented for an extended period of time, clean. They find it necessary to leave as much junk behind as possible. Janie always tells us it’s because the renters want to leave behind something we can remember them by. Janie always makes us chuckle.

Well, when Janie The Realtor called yesterday. It was right along the same guidelines as always when it comes to Janies problems. She had another renter leave in Vinings before the end of the lease, and of course, they left a bunch of junk behind.

Janie was a little bit more hysterical than normal yesterday though. She was disgusted by what she found at this particular property. She found that the renters weren’t using a garbage service, and instead were just throwing all the garbage bags into the garage, and they were doing this for who knows how long.

She was stressing the importance of us being there as soon as possible, so we made a special, same day trip for her. We try to accommodate our return customers as much as we possible, and Janie The Realtor isn’t just a return client, she’s part of our platinum member club. Which basically means shes a big shot to us.

Well, when we arrived, we could instantly see, and smell the exact reason why Janie was so hysterical. The garage was just filled with junk, and old bulk trash. It smelled like a landfill, and looked like they had been dumping their trash there for months, and months. I was even a little surprised, and after all these years, and all the different kinds of junk and trash piles I have seen, it’s hard to surprise me.

All Clean

The Stand Up Guys Junk Removal Crew wasn’t going to be intimidated by any pile of junk, no matter how smelly it was. So we put our hard hats on, closed our noses, and went to work.

Everything was in the garage, so it wasn’t going to be a far walk at all. We just pulled the famous Light Blue Stand Up Guys Junk Truck, right up to the garage door, and started chucking bags into the back. It actually didn’t even take as long as we thought it would. That might have had something to do with the fact that we were working at extra super speeds, so that we didn’t have to stay in the smelly filth.

Either way, we got the job done, and most of all Janie the Realtor was extremely happy now. She is always happy after we help her out, that is why she keeps coming back to us. But today she was a little extra happy, because this renter, this house, and this pile of junk and trash was really starting to become a nuisance for her. All is good now though, because the Stand Up Guys Junk Removal Crew came and saved the day!

Well yesterday had your typical “Manic Monday” feel to it. It was a little gloomy outside, little cold, and the traffic was just horrendous in the morning. Our Stand Up Guys Crew had a yard clean up in East Atlanta on our plate, so as you can imagine, we were pretty excited. The excitement for it trumped the manic Monday feel by about 8:30am, so it wasn’t that bad of a morning after all.

The cast of characters for our Monday Yard Clean Up Fiasco: The boss man Casey, our regional director Carson, and the one and only Ross. Ya, I know, it was a pretty stellar group to all be going on one job together. Usually those hierarchy’s are running their own projects daily, but that just shows you the importance of Monday’s job.

The customers issue: Well, Melissa and John, are a newly wed couple that just moved into East Atlanta. Originally they were from Pittsburgh, but John got a promotion with his company, and they uprooted the newly weds down here, to the wonderful south.

The house that they bought here in Atlanta, is a beautiful 3 bedroom, ranch style home, but it did have one problem, the yard. John and Melissa had big plans for putting a nice pond, and patio in the back yard, but when the landscape designer came over to look at everything he didn’t like what he saw. He

told them that in order to get a better look at the yard, and for him to get an idea for a layout, they would HAVE to have the yard cleaned.

The yard was filled with fallen limbs, and branches, and whoever lived there before probably hadn’t raked in 10 years. The landscape designer told the couple that his company could clean it up for them, but their minimum, because of the size of the company was $5000, and even he told them that was outrageous for a yard clean up.

The Customers Solution: Well the customers solution was simple, call The Stand Up Guys. The landscape designer has worked with us a few times in the past, so he always definitely been quick to recommend us to his future clients, and he told them all about us. When they called, they were expressing to us how badly they wanted to get started on their pond, so that meant they wanted the yard cleaned up asap.

Well we always take care of our repeat customers, so that is why we sent out the Stand Up Guys big wigs for this yard clean up in East Atlanta. We even brought two of our trucks, and a few extra hands, so that we could finish this bad boy up in one day. Because with one truck and two guys, (like what we normally send to a job) it would have taken at least three days, but John and Melissa did not want to wait that long.

Well just like we always do, we delivered. We got to the property in East Atlanta right around 8:45, and got to work quickly. By lunch time it was quite apparent that we were going to knock this bad boy out in no time. By 3:30 it wasn’t apparent anymore, instead it was fact. Yes we finished it all up before rush hour traffic hit. So all in all, everybody was happy at the end of this “Manic Monday”.

Well, the Stand Up Guys were at it again on Saturday. Yes, as Stand Up Guys we remove junk, basically everyday, but every once in a while we go even further, we go above and beyond, and we break the mold. Well Saturday was a great example of that.

Let me paint the picture for you first. Kathryn, a nice stay at home mom from Marietta, called a corporate junk removal company here in town to help her with her basement junk, I wont tell you their name, but I can tell you it rhymed with One Eight Schmundred Shmot Shmunk.

Kathryn needed to have the junk out of her basement by the end of the weekend, because she had a pool table, and two couches being delivered on Monday. She was trying to surprise her husband with a cool man cave in their basement. Well, the company that Kathryn called came out late on Friday, knowing she had to have it gone by the weekend, and gave her an outrageous price. She knew instantly that they were trying to pull a fast one on her, because she went into detail with them over the phone about the junk needing to be gone by a certain time. They thought they could get a way with an inflated price because of the dilemma Kathryn was in.

Well, they thought wrong. Kathryn was so upset by their lack of professionalism that she told them nevermind, and sent them packing. Kathryn might have made a big mistake by calling that company, but she sure made up for it with her next move.

Kathryn’s next move was a fabulous one too. She picked up the

She felt immediate relief when on the other end of the phone, Ross, one of Stand Up Guys big wigs, answered the phone. Ross told her that we would make everything right, and that she had nothing to worry about any longer. The Stand Up Guys were going to fix everything.

Ross, and Carson set out immediately to Kathryns home in Marietta. When they got there, she quickly showed them the pile of junk that lay in the basement. Without hesitation, Ross and Carson gave her a great price and swiftly got to work.

They were done, and had that basement looking absolutely spotless in no time at all. Kathryn was so ecstatic that she was almost speechless. The junk that at one time was bogging down her life, and causing her to stress out, was now completely out of her life, thanks in full to the Stand Up Guys Junk Removal Crew.

The Stand Up Crew was at it again today, just like any other day, driving around picking up and cleaning up junk. We just try and make the world a better place one day at a time. We don’t try and brag, but comeon’, we are pretty awesome.

Odd Pool Cover?

Today started out a little slow because of all the rain, the fog, and the awesome Atlanta traffic. But we were able to fight through it and make it to our first few jobs right on time, and just like always we left them all as satisfied customers. After all, that is what we do best.

Our last job in particular though, was a nice little house out in Cobb, with a whole heap of junk in the garage, but the thing that struck us as odd was the one big item in the back yard that was a first for us. Now when it comes to “firsts” for us, it’s rare. Mainly because of how long we have been in the junk-game, there just isn’t much at this point, that we haven’t seen.

Anyway, this customer had an enormous wired fencing structure over their pool. We weren’t quite sure why it was there, but in our best guess was, it was to keep someone out, probably like kids or something, so that they didn’t get themselves hurt while rough housing in the back yard, and our best guess is as good as any because we are awesome!

Well, because this was a first for us, it took us at least a minute or two to figure out what exactly we were going to do with it, and how we were going to get it into the truck. One of the problems was, it was much to large to carry all by itself, and the other problem was trying to take it apart. If we were to try and take it apart where it was at the time, whoever was the lucky guy to cut all the wire, would have most likely fallen straight into the pool.

Junk..Junk..Junk

So we put our heads together and came up with a solid game plan to knock this bad boy out, and leave with another wonderfully happy customer.

We took a few two by fours that were in the original pile of junk from the garage, and braced them under the odd pool cover structure thingy, and used it as leverage to flip the structure over. Once flipped, the structure lie perfectly placed on the yard, and now was a breeze to cut up and haul to the truck.

We were able to cut up, and save all the metal from the wiring, to recycle later, and we used a sawzaw to cut the wood into small, manageable pieces. Once that was all done, we loaded it all up, and hit the road. Off we go to save some more people of Atlanta from their own JUNK!

Stand Up Guys Are At It Again!

Today the Stand Up Guys were out in the Kennesaw area, it’s not uncommon to see us out this way. We have a ton of wonderful customers and clients in the Kennesaw Area. Today we were doing a “junk clean out” for one of our new Kennesaw customers, her name was Amanda.

Amanda was moving out of her home, and hitching her wagon up north to New Jersey, where her family lives. She was here for the last four years, attending school at Kennesaw State University. Well, as you can imagine, one can accumulate a whole heap of junk in four years, and Amanda sure did.

She called us after the movers, that she hired, got done packing and moving everything she was taking back to New Jersey with her. She had more “junk,” than stuff that she was keeping. That might sound kind of crazy, but we see that on a daily basis. Junk can just accumulate around any of us, and eventually sneak up on us when moving time comes.

Well she had the junk somewhat scattered through out the house, from room to room. Every room in the house had a little something there, so we had our hands full.

room, and began to pile everything up in the hallways. This way when it was time to get it all in the truck, we could take it all from one pile, instead of 40. As we were piling everything up in the hallway, we were also making a separate pile with things that we believed could be donated. Even though Amanda looked at some of this stuff as “junk” doesn’t mean that someone else out there couldn’t find use for it.

Once we had all the junk thrown into the hallway, and all the donation items separated, we got to work getting it all to the truck. She only had one flight of stairs in the house, so getting it to the truck wasn’t bad at all. Pretty much a breeze if you ask me.

Well, once we finished, we did what we always do, and left the job with yet another satisfied customer. She was so excited about our work, and how great we did, that she went out of her way to tell some of her friends here in Kennesaw about us. Now even though Amanda is moving far away from us, we wanted to make sure she was happy, and that she would be a customer for life, at heart at least. Customer service is the most important aspect of our business, and no matter if a customer is moving away, or just getting rid of some small junk, we want to make sure they are EXTREMELY SATISFIED.

We were also able to donate everything that we had separated from her junk. So all in all, today was a great day tater.
