Tip Of The Week

First of all, we all know how much we hate to have piles of debris in our yards. Without us even knowing, fallen branches and leaves can fill up the front and back yard. And maybe every once in a while, you will go out there yourself and attempt collect some of the debris. This can be too much for some of us though, we all live busy lives so it’s hard find the time to clean up debris in the yard on a regular basis.

Before you know it though, you could have a 5ft high pile of debris that’s only getting bigger with time. This is a no-no. I could sit here and tell you right off the bat that you need to pick up the phone and call the pros at Stand Up Guys Junk Removal to come in and take care of the pile. Yes that’s a great idea, but not your only option. Either way, that debris NEEDS to go, it is bad for you and your home on many different levels.

Here are a few reasons why debris should be removed from your house.

  • Unsightly
  • Attracts Pests
  • Fire Hazard

Appearance

Having any debris or brush piles can be unsightly for your neighbors and for you and your family. If you are renting or owning, it is well worth paying to have it removed just based on the looks of the yard alone.

You would be amazed to see what a difference it would make to have your yard cleaned up. Plus, if your yard gets too out of hand, the county can issue you a citation and make you remove it. Once that happens, most likely you would then be in such a rush to get rid of it that you might call the wrong company and wind up over-paying. That’s no good for anyone. So make sure to take care of this now before it gets out of hand.

Attracts Pests

Debris piles are also home to many pests such as: slugs, ants, cockroaches, rats, mice and centipedes….ewwwww. Sometimes even more dangerous rodents like opossums and raccoons and I know for a fact that none of us out there want these critters anywhere near our homes.

Yard waste is basically a gateway to your house. Pests are all around, but having branches and leaves piling up in the yard attracts that many more pests. It even makes it easier for them to enter your home. Having pests in your home creates a whole new problem and can be very dangerous and costly if you have to get exterminators to come.

Fire Safety

This might be the biggest reason of all, the potential of a fire. A debris or brush pile is a ready base of fuel for fires to start spreading. Just in the U.S. alone, millions of acres of land are burned up from wildfires each year. Especially if you home is surrounded by forest, which is most of us here in Metro Atlanta. Debris piles make an easy path to your home. Removing limbs and branches helps out the fire fighters by creating a clear path. Clearing yard waste increases the chance of saving a burning building.

Dont let your yard become a danger zone. Take the necessary steps to keep your yard looking nice and hazard free!

Very good advice. The pile can definitely attract unwanted critters and pests, as well as become very unsightly
