Benjamin Leis Take On Entrepreneurs

SweatEquitees

That was the exact question I had to ask myself when I was proposed with the idea of writing a guest blog post for Stand Up Guys. I typically write about and offer advice on entrepreneurship, so now I was posed with this challenge on how to merge the two: junk and entrepreneurship. In fact, these two topics highlight one of the most important and necessary elements of business success.

One of the best skills to have as an entrepreneur is the ability to identify when a business operation just isn’t working. Too many businesses fail from business owners trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, over and over again they continue with the same strategy thinking that they will get different results. Time however is not on their side and the faster one can throw away a bad idea and move on, the faster they can achieve their ultimate goals.

Before ditching the strategy, idea or function, an entrepreneur should bring together their co-workers to discuss and examine it. State the goals, the problems and brainstorm on solutions.

This examination and ideation process will accomplish a few tasks at once. It will give everyone in the organization a better idea of how operations work and what the goals are. It will identify creative team members.  It will produce team buy-in on the solution since team members have now become empowered to solve the problem. Most of all it will allow the organization to take a step closer to success. Stumble again and simply junk, rinse, repeat.
