Crime at the park
During a City Commission meeting, Largo residents received a tidbit of information about their City’s newest police substation. The new facility, which opened in July 2013, will offer a skate & bike park, as well as volleyball courts, sports courts, and an asphalt trail.
The City of Largo also works with the Pinellas County Wastewater/Stormwater Task Force, which engages in collaborative efforts to address the causes of SSOs. One of the most common causes of SSOs is improper disposal of non-flushable items. Proper disposal of fats, grease, and oils is also an important consideration.
Largo’s City Commission met to hear from Largo Police Chief Jeffrey Undestad. He introduced the department’s newly promoted employees. Mayor Brown presented a certificate of recognition for the new officers and badges were pinned on by family members.
Commissioner Smith also noted the significance of sea level rise. He stated that this should be considered during future development reviews. In addition, Commissioner Carroll stated that mapping and National Flood Insurance were priorities. The Largo Police Department employs 154 officers.
Facilities at the park
Located across the street from Largo Central Park is the Bayhead Action Park. This new concrete facility has a skate park, street section, sports courts, and mini-ramp.
The park is a great place for sports fans to play volleyball, basketball, or skate. There’s also a dog park. The skate park will be open until September, and the street section will be open from August 17 until September.
The park also features a seven-foot-empty pool, a grind box, and a mini-ramp. There will also be giveaways and skate and bike demonstrations. In addition, there are four volleyball courts, a basketball court, and walking paths. This park is located at 375 Seminole Blvd., Largo, FL.
Other nearby parks include Walsingham Park, John S. Taylor Park, and Lake Seminole. These parks all have plenty of open space, including picnic facilities, grills, water fountains, restrooms, and playgrounds. Walsingham Park also has a lake and a reservoir, as well as a wildlife sanctuary. The park also has a small miniature train. This is not a huge novelty in Largo. However, the miniature train is the smallest one in the state. It is also the most impressive of all of the city’s parks, thanks to a slew of volunteers. The best part about the miniature train is that it is free. The Bayhead Action Park is also a great place to learn about the city’s history. The park’s plaque is filled with information on the city’s early settlement and development.
The city’s Parks and Recreation Department has a full slate of events for residents and visitors to enjoy. The city boasts a plethora of cultural performances, as well as a variety of family-friendly parks.
Recreational activities at the park
Located just across the street from Largo’s Central Park, the new Bayhead Action Park is a 7,000-square-foot facility that will provide an extensive array of recreational activities for the community. The park will replace the city’s old skate park and will be built near an existing basketball court. The park will include picnic tables, benches, a 1.3-mile asphalt loop and thousands of plants.

The park will also have a dog park and sports courts. There are also hundreds of trees throughout the park.
Largo’s Recreation, Parks and Arts Department offers a variety of programs and services to promote fitness, wellness and self-esteem. They also provide resources for individuals with disabilities.
